How to convert PNG to PDF
Drag your PNG files onto the upload area, or click Choose File and select them from your device. Click Create PDF, and when it is ready use the Download button to save it. A single image gives you a one-page PDF, and several images give you one PDF with a page for each, in the order you added them. Your original PNG files are not changed.
PNG and PDF: what each is for
PNG is an image format. It stores pixels without lossy compression, supports transparency and keeps screenshots, diagrams and text in graphics sharp, which is why designers and developers use it so much. PDF is a document format: it holds one or more pages at a fixed paper size and looks the same on any device. A PNG is a picture; a PDF is something you can send, print, sign or file.
Why convert PNG to PDF?
PNG files are often screenshots, diagrams, charts, scanned pages saved as images and design exports, and that shapes why people turn them into PDFs: submitting a screenshot to a portal that accepts only PDF, sending several screenshots as one attachment instead of a pile of files, putting receipts or evidence into a single document, printing a diagram or infographic on paper, or handing exported artwork to someone who expects a PDF. Logos and artwork with transparent backgrounds end up in PDFs too, with the transparency flattened to white (see below). If your files are a mix of JPG, PNG and WebP, Image to PDF accepts them together.
How the PDF is built: page size, quality and transparency
Each image is placed on its own A4 portrait page and scaled down to fit inside the margins, keeping its proportions, so a wide screenshot and a tall poster both fit without distortion. Inside the PDF the image is stored as a high-quality JPEG (92%). That keeps the page looking like your PNG and keeps the file a sensible size, but it is not a lossless copy, so keep the original PNG if you need exact pixels.
PNG transparency is not carried over: transparent areas are filled with white, because a PDF page needs a background. The PDF holds a picture of each page, so any text in a screenshot is part of the image and cannot be selected or searched.
Tips for clean PDFs from PNG files
Because every page is A4 portrait, a wide landscape image is scaled to the page width and leaves white space above and below it, while a tall image is limited by the page height. For the best result, crop images to the area you need before converting and keep related images at similar proportions. Use PNGs with enough resolution for the size you will print, since the PDF cannot add detail the image does not have. If you need a specific paper size, orientation or margins, a layout tool is the better choice, because this converter keeps one simple page layout.
Combine multiple PNG files into one PDF
Select every image in one go, or add them in several rounds; the pages follow the order the files were added, and the thumbnails show what is in the batch. That makes it easy to assemble a set of screenshots, scanned pages or design exports into a single document. A very long set of large images needs a lot of memory, so on an older phone it is better to build the PDF in smaller groups.
PNG to PDF on a phone, or from Canva
On a phone, open this page in your browser and pick the images from your gallery or Files app. If your design is in Canva, you can usually download it directly as a PDF from the Share menu; if you have already exported separate PNG images, this converter will merge them into one document. The conversion happens on your device, and your images are not uploaded to FreeConverte's servers.
More conversions for your images
If your PNG comes from vector artwork, SVG to PNG creates it at the size you need, and WebP to PNG converts WebP pictures first. For iPhone photos, use HEIC to PDF directly. And if you need a smaller image rather than a document, PNG to JPG shrinks the file.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert a PNG screenshot to PDF?
Add the screenshot to the converter above and click Create PDF. The page is built in your browser and you can download it straight away. To put several screenshots in one document, select them together and they become a single PDF with a page for each, in the order you added them. Text in a screenshot stays readable at normal viewing sizes, although inside the PDF the image is stored as a 92% JPEG rather than as a lossless PNG.
What happens to transparent areas when I convert a PNG to PDF?
They turn white. A PDF page needs a background, so the transparent parts of the PNG are filled with white before the picture is placed on the page. If you need to keep the transparency, keep the file as a PNG instead of putting it in a PDF.
Can I combine multiple PNG images into one PDF?
Yes. Select all the PNG files you want, in the order you want them, and click Create PDF. Each image becomes its own page in a single document. To change the order, remove an image and add it again.
Will the text in my PNG be selectable in the PDF?
No. A PNG is a picture, so the PDF holds that picture on a page and any words in it cannot be selected, searched or copied. To get searchable text from a screenshot or scan, run OCR software on the PDF afterwards.
Is PDF better than PNG for printing?
PDF is generally the better fit for documents and print-ready files, because it keeps pages together at a fixed paper size. PNG is an image format, ideal for graphics and screenshots on screen. For a quick print of a single picture either works, but for a multi-page document or something you will send to a print shop, a PDF is easier to handle.
Can I convert PNG to PDF on my phone or in Canva?
On a phone, open this page in your mobile browser, choose the PNG files from your gallery or Files app and create the PDF there. In Canva you can usually download a design as a PDF straight from the Share menu; if you have already exported separate PNG images, this converter combines them into one document.
