SVG files — select one or more
The PNG is rendered from the vector at this multiple of the SVG's own size, so a larger size stays sharp.
How to convert SVG to PNG
Drag your SVG files onto the upload area, or click Choose File and select them from your device; you can pick several at once. Then choose the output size. 1× keeps the size defined inside the SVG, while 2×, 3× and 4× draw the same artwork with two, three or four times as many pixels in each direction. Click Convert to PNG when you are ready.
Each finished PNG gets its own Download button, and when you convert more than one file a Download ZIP button appears as well. A file that cannot be converted, for example one that is not really an SVG, is listed with the reason and does not stop the others from finishing.
What is an SVG file?
SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) is an image format written as text. Instead of storing pixels, it describes shapes, paths, colors and text, and a program draws them at whatever size is needed. That is why SVG is the usual format for logos, icons, charts and illustrations: the same small file looks sharp on a phone and on a billboard-sized export.
The trade-off is compatibility. Many social platforms, email clients, marketplaces, upload forms and older office programs expect an ordinary picture and either reject SVG or display it inconsistently. A PNG avoids those problems.
Why convert an SVG to PNG?
The most common reason is an upload that refuses vector files, such as a logo for a website builder, a store listing, a profile picture or a social post. Others are putting an icon into a slide deck, document or email, producing a fixed-size image for an app store or thumbnail, and sending a graphic to someone who cannot open vector files. If you only need to save an SVG as a PNG once, this takes a few seconds and needs no design software.
SVG to PNG without losing quality: choose the right size
An SVG has no fixed size in pixels, but a PNG does, so the converter has to decide how many pixels to draw. It reads the size from the SVG (its width and height, or its viewBox) and multiplies it by the option you choose. A logo drawn at 200 × 200 becomes 400 × 400 at 2× and 800 × 800 at 4×. Because the browser draws the vector at the final size, edges and curves stay crisp instead of being a small bitmap stretched up.
A practical rule: work out the largest size you will need and convert at that size. You can always shrink a PNG later without harm, but enlarging one makes it soft. PNG compression is lossless, so quality is decided by the pixel size rather than by a quality slider. Very large outputs make big files, and browsers limit how large an image they can create; if a size is too big, the converter tells you and you can pick a smaller option.
SVG to PNG with a transparent background
PNG supports transparency, and the converter paints nothing behind your SVG, so see-through areas stay see-through. If your artwork has no background shape, the PNG will have a transparent background, which is what you want for a logo that will sit on different colors. Some programs show transparency as a checkerboard and others as black or white; that is how the viewer displays it, not a change to the file.
If you would rather have a solid white background, convert to PNG here and then use PNG to JPG, which fills transparent areas with white.
Fonts and linked images
For safety, browsers draw an SVG as a standalone image, which means it cannot load anything from outside the file. Text in a font installed on your device renders normally, but text that relies on a web font, and images linked by address instead of embedded, may not appear. If your SVG uses special fonts, convert the text to outlines in your design program before exporting, and embed any pictures. Scripts inside an SVG are not run.
Works on any device, processed in your browser
The conversion uses your browser's own SVG renderer, so it works on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android phones and iPhones in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Your SVG files are read and converted on your device and are not sent to FreeConverte's servers.
What to do with your PNG next
Once you have a PNG you can put it into a document with PNG to PDF, make a lighter copy for the web with PNG to WebP, or turn it into a favicon with Image to ICO. If your source images are WebP instead, WebP to PNG does the same job for them.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I convert SVG to PNG?
Add your SVG file to the converter above, choose an output size (2× is a good starting point) and click Convert to PNG. The PNG appears with a Download button a moment later. You can also select several SVG files at once and download the PNGs one by one or as a single ZIP.
Can I convert SVG to PNG online?
Yes. The conversion runs directly in your browser, so there is nothing to install and no account to create. Your browser draws the SVG itself and creates the PNG on your device.
Is there a free SVG to PNG converter?
Yes. This converter is free to use, with no signup, no watermark and no limit on how many files you convert.
How do I convert SVG to PNG without losing quality?
A PNG is made of pixels, so quality comes down to having enough of them. Choose 2× or higher in the Output size menu, or 4× if the image will be printed or shown on high-density screens. PNG compression itself is lossless, so nothing more is lost once the image is drawn at the size you picked. Converting larger than you need is safer than enlarging a small PNG later, which makes it blurry.
Can SVG be converted to a transparent PNG?
Yes. Areas of the SVG that have no fill stay transparent in the PNG, because nothing is painted behind the artwork. If the SVG contains a background rectangle, that rectangle is part of the drawing and will appear in the PNG as well.
What is the difference between SVG and PNG?
SVG is a vector format: it stores shapes and text as instructions, so it can be scaled to any size without losing sharpness. PNG is a raster format made of a fixed grid of pixels and is the usual choice for web graphics, screenshots and images that need transparency. SVG is best while you are designing or need to resize; PNG is best when you need a picture that opens everywhere.
